Making Worship a Lifestyle

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:16)

Once you have learnt to enter into the Lord's Presence on a daily basis, you will never be the same again. Circumstances and things look totally different from the Lord's viewpoint. It will change the way you behave, the way you talk etc. In other words, it will change the way you have been living so far. Esther, the ordinary peasant girl, prepared an entire year for one night with the King.

She had no guarantee that she would see him again after that one encounter. Not thinking of the outcome, she prepared herself. The moment her preparation time was up, she was ushered into the King's presence and from that day onwards, she no longer was a 'peasant girl' from a 'conquered nation' but the queen. From that day forward, she walked, talked and carried herself like the queen she had become. Her very preparation became her lifestyle.

Remember, worship is not just something that happens in a prayer meeting or a church service for an hour or two or when we spend time alone in God's Presence. It should become our very lifestyle. Wherever you go, whatever you do, it must have the fragrance of worship- no matter the circumstances. Because the King abides in us through His Holy Spirit, we carry His presence with us wherever we go. Therefore, every moment of every day becomes an opportunity and a reason for worship.

Worship is not what we do; it is who we are! We are worshipers by nature. As the King's favourites, our entire lives should be continuing acts of worship! In Matthew 5, the Lord Jesus described the character of a worshipper. He said that they are poor in spirit. Mournful (over the sin of the world), meek (gentle), hungry and thirsty for righteousness, merciful, pure in heart and peacemakers. He also said they are persecuted for the sake of righteousness. In short, they exhibit the character of their Father, the King.

In other words, everything we do or say should reflect the glory of His name and character. Ask yourself this question: is my daily life a continuing act of worship? Do my words and behaviour draw people to the Lord Jesus or drive them away? Let your light shine!
Prayer
Father, I ask you, cause me to worship You with my whole heart, mind and strength. Cause me to walk in the lifestyle of worship. Everything I do or say must reflect Your glory and character so that people may be drawn to the Lord Jesus. Let my light shine. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
