He Can Heal You of Your Wounds

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. (Psalm 34:18)

Humans naturally feel comfortable around those that feel their pain. You know how engaging a conversation is with someone in your similar situation. You are glad they are also in pain and will do anything they tell you to. This is one strategy of the devil. He attempts to choose his victim's future while they are very young. Cruel words, sexual abuse, anger, and other physical and emotional weapons create a hole in a person's emotions.

As neglect, abuse, and sexual sins continue, more holes are punched in the emotions, and the previous holes become bigger and bigger. Eventually, a person feels so unclean inside, so unworthy and rejected, that they begin to seek an alternative lifestyle.

Soon these hurting individuals become attracted to other individuals who are experiencing the same form of pain. They team up with other wounded people who are drinking alcohol, taking illegal drugs or are sexually active in an illicit manner. They get drunk or high, and then they give themselves over to another person, thinking that it will fill the void. When the party is over, and the sun rises in the morning, the friends are gone, and they awake with the same holes in their hearts.

They were deceived into thinking if they can drink more, then their pains would go away; if they can become wayward, they will find a bearing for their life. All these are lies from the pit of hell. The devil finds young, innocent children and then hooks them up with similar corrupt children just to destroy their destiny.

For instance, we read the story of Amnon and Jonadab in 2 Samuel 13:1-4; the Bible says, "After this Absalom the son of David had a lovely sister, whose name was Tamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her. Amnon was so distressed over his sister Tamar that he became sick; for she was a virgin. And it was improper for Amnon to do anything to her. But Amnon had a friend whose name was Jonadab, the son of Shimeah, David's brother. Now Jonadab was a very crafty man. And he said to him, "Why are you, the king's son, becoming thinner day after day? Will you not tell me?" Amnon said to him, "I love Tamar, my brother Absalom's sister."

Amnon is like most young people, who are challenged or broken or perhaps happen to come from a dysfunctional family. Unfortunately, the devil positioned the wrong company around him. The Bible says that Jonadab was crafty. He was indeed an agent of the devil who lured Amnon into deeper holes. He thought the pain and feeling would go away by following Jonadab's advice, but unfortunately, he simply signed his untimely death.

Lord Jesus told a parable saying, "Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into a pit? (Luke 6:39). The solution to your brokenness is not in other wounded people. The solution is in Jesus. The good news is that repenting of our sins and placing our faith in Christ brings not only deliverance from our bondages but also wholeness to our inner souls!

You don't have to take yourself to the clubhouse or brothel, and neither should you team up with sinners; Jesus is able to heal you of your inner wound. He can restore your peace and grant you abundant joy. So long you are still alive, rest assured that there is hope in Jesus. Do you have a child who is in a mess right now? You are reading this devotional today because Jesus wants to set them free from the bondage of hell.
Prayer
Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank you for the hope that I have in you. I bring myself to you today, and I pray that you fill me with your love. I lay aside all the weight of sin, and I embrace your grace and peace. I decree that my wounds are healed. In Jesus' name. Amen.
