God's words are the template for running our lives and homes. It is the compass for directing us on what to do and how to raise our children in the way and admonition of the Lord. David said in our text that God's word is a lamp that guides his feet on the way to go. You can tell a man that runs his life or home with information on social media and a man that runs his home with information from the scriptures. The difference is always evident.
Lord Jesus taught in Matthew 7:24-27 saying, 24 "Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 "But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall."
The word is the foundation, and when the foundation is solid, the building will stand. So when the wind of doctrine and sorcery starts to blow people away, a man living by the word stands firm.
So, we should develop a lifestyle of the word as a family. The word of God is not activated and operative in your life simply because you hold a Bible in your hand or have a Bible placed in every room of your house. The Word of God is inspired, and when it is taught, divine energy is released as the words are spoken.
David said in Psalm 119:9-11, "How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word. With my whole heart, I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments! Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You." Did you see this verse? Your young ones need to be taught the word so they will not go astray. Some people like to teach their children their culture and tradition, yes, it's good, but your culture is only practised when they are within the community. What if they find themselves elsewhere; at that moment, God's word is the compass to direct them on what to do. The Bible is the only book that is relevant globally.
So, speak the word over your home, over your family members, over your land and properties. When you speak the word of God over your family members, you are instilling divine ordinance over them. You are superimposing divine manifestations over terrestrial occurrences. You are saying to the mountain on your way to move, and it shall move. Teach your children God's word and let them say it always. They should learn to say what the word says, not what they are feeling or what the economy is saying.
Joel 3:10 says, "Beat your plowshares into swords. And your pruning hooks into spears; Let the weak say, 'I am strong.'" Are they feeling weak? Let them declare the strength of God over their lives.
God's word also has a purifying force. Jesus said in John 15:3, "You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you." God's word cleanses us. Are your children addicted in some ways? Are they struggling with some weaknesses? Let them have a regular time of studying the word.
Prayer
Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank you for the light of your word. I pray that you help me to obey your word. I pray for the grace to follow your word and your ways. I sanctify my family with your word, and I decree that our lives are run by the word. In Jesus' name. Amen.
