1. Uncommon Favor is Released When Uncommon Intercessors Pray for You
In Acts 12, Herod began to persecute the church. He murdered James, the brother of John and also jailed Peter. Seeing this, the church entered into a season of intense intercession, asking the Lord to set Peter free. In response to the fervent intercessory prayers of the church, God miraculously opened the doors of the prison and set Peter free.
When they were past the first and the second guard posts, they came to the iron gate that leads to the city, which opened to them of its own accord; and they went out and went down one street, and immediately the angel departed from him.
And when Peter came to himself, he said, “Now I know for certain that the Lord has sent His angel, and has delivered me from the hand of Herod and from all the expectation of the Jewish people.” (Acts 12:10-11)
Not just anyone praying will release uncommon favour but people who are burdened to see the vision that you carry manifest. Such people praying for you will release the uncommon favour in your life. In the case of Peter, people praying for him were not just involved in some religious duty. They loved Peter and desperately wanted to see him free.
2. Everyone Needs an Intercessor
“Oh, that a man would mediate and plead with God [for me]
Just as a man [mediates and pleads] with his neighbour and friend. (Job 16:21)
The above verse highlights the truth of the statement: Every person on the face of this planet desperately needs an intercessor.
Even though the Apostle Paul was a mighty prayer warrior himself and was greatly used by God, he often asked the church to pray for him.
Dear brothers and sisters, I urge you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to join in my struggle by praying to God for me. Do this because of your love for me, given to you by the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:30 NLT)
I humbly request you to pray for me, my family, and the team daily so that I would continue to be faithful and effective in what God has called me to do.
3. God Seeks Intercessors
True Intercessors are in short supply. They are a rare breed. It is no wonder that God Himself seeks intercessors.
The Lord spoke saying, “So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one.” (Ezekiel 22:30)
God has a special place in his heart for people, those who intercede, those who stand in the gap for someone else. Will you heed the call to be an intercessor and intercept and stop the plans of the enemy - the devil? God will certainly honour you.
