"For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago." (Ephesians 2:10, NLT)
In a world that often measures worth by social status, career success, and the approval of others, it's easy to feel as though you're not good enough. Perhaps the loudest voices you hear are the ones that tell you you're inadequate, unworthy, or unimportant. But today, let's set our hearts on a higher truth: the affirming words of our Heavenly Father, who says you are His masterpiece.
Have you ever felt the high of approval one minute and the low of rejection the next? It's a rollercoaster ride that can wreak emotional havoc. Proverbs 29:25 says, "Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety." When we look for our self-worth in others, we subject ourselves to the instability of human emotion and judgment.
Unlike human opinions that fluctuate like the tides, God's view of us remains constant. The Psalmist declares in Psalm 139:14, "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." God, the Master Artist, wove us together with intentionality and care.
One of the most striking aspects of our worth in God's eyes is revealed in our redemption. Romans 5:8 tells us, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." You were worth dying for. And after you're redeemed, you're forgiven and free. Colossians 1:14 says, "In whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins."
God didn't just create us and leave us to wander aimlessly. Jeremiah 29:11 assures us, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." God has intricately crafted us for a unique purpose, and it's when we align ourselves with this divine plan that we truly begin to understand our irreplaceable value.
So, where should we turn to find our true worth? Look no further than the presence of God. Zephaniah 3:17 states, "The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing."
Prayer
Heavenly Father, let me find my worth solely in You. Silence the voices that tell me I am not good enough and fill me with the assurance that I am Your masterpiece, created for Your purpose. In Jesus' name, Amen.
