Then He said: “A certain man had two sons. And the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the portion of goods that falls to me.’ So he divided to them his livelihood. And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living. But when he had spent all, there arose a severe famine in that land, and he began to be in want. (Luke 15:11-14)
When the prodigal son was in the Father’s house, he never experienced a lack of any kind. There was an abundance of all sorts. However, the farther he went from the Father’s house, he began to experience lack and want in his life.
David understood this principle and wrote in Psalm 23:1
The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
In essence, as long as the Lord was leading David, he was not lacking anything. David wrote in another place: “The young lions lack and suffer hunger; but those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing.” (Psalm 34:10)
There was another person called Obed-Edom. Not much was known about him until he hosted the ark of the covenant in his house for three months, and the Lord blessed his entire household. The prosperity that Obed-Edom was blessed was so great that it reached the king’s (David’s) ears.
In these end times, we must understand this secret that it is the presence of the Lord that will keep us from lack and scarcity. We must cling to the Lord more than ever before. Lack and insufficiency will never knock on your door.
Confession
The Lord is my Shepherd. I will never lack anything in my life. (Keep saying this regularly)
