A Different Jesus, Different Spirit, and Another Gospel - II

The Apostle Paul called together the elders of the church at Ephesus, and his final words to these beloved saints were:

"²⁹ For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves." (Acts 20:29-30).

Apostle Paul was amazed by how easily some of the Galatians were swayed: "6 I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, 7 which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed." (Galatians 1:6-8).

How shall we know then what is the true gospel and what is accursed?

1.Any Teaching That Says there Are Other Ways to Salvation
The Bible teaches that Jesus Christ is the only saviour of the world. Lord Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (John 14:6).

Jesus is not a way - He is the way. 
Jesus is not just "a" truth - but the truth. 

Jesus is more than just a good man, or a teacher, or a prophet; He is the virgin-born, only begotten Son of God!

Those that teach that there are other ways to salvation are teaching, as the Apostle Paul said, "another gospel" and "another Jesus."

2.Any Teaching That Undermines the Fear of God 
Only the powerful, absolute fear of God kept Adam and Eve from disobeying Him. It was not their love for God, nor their daily communion. It was this: "16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die." (Genesis 2:16-17).

But satan came with a slick and smooth message: "You shall not surely die" (3:4). This was a total perversion of truth — another gospel! Yet it was just what Eve wanted to hear. You see, something inside her resisted God's commandment. The Lord's restriction seemed too much of a yoke to her. 

satan knew this was in Eve, and he began to downplay the fear of God in her immediately: "Did God really say this? God is not like that. You have the wrong concept of Him. Do you think He will deny you knowledge and wisdom, when He Himself is Knowledge and Wisdom? What kind of a God do you think He is? You surely will not die!"

God's Word says, "By the fear of the Lord men depart from evil" (Proverbs 16:6).

In Proverbs 14:12 we read, "There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end, it leads to death." Today, where do you stand?

Father, open my eyes and ears to Your Word. Keep me and my family from deception. Keep me connected to the right people. In Jesus’ name. Amen!
