Prayer is not a natural activity. To the natural man, prayer does not come easy, and many struggle in this area. In this supersonic age, where people like to zip around at the speed of sound, getting things done faster and faster, prayer can seem like an annoying task to be done. However, there comes a time in everyone's life when a person falls to his or her knees and cries out to the One through whom all things were made – the seen and the unseen. (John 1:3)
If you were to simply ask people who have suffered a tragedy, heartbreak or failure, "what happened when you fell to your knees and poured out your heart to the Lord?" Some have told me, "I felt a deep peace that I cannot explain", others said, "It was as if a burden just lifted off", "I never felt like this before."
When I got the news from the doctor that my mom had passed away to glory, a deep pain entered my heart. I could not even cry. Everyone else was crying around me, but I simply could not let it out. I struggled in prayer for days.
One day, as I was praying late at night, a deep assurance filled my soul. I could not explain it. Let me be honest, I did not audibly hear the voice of God, but I felt His voice speak to my inner man saying, "Will you trust me in all this?" I started weeping profusely and said, "Yes Lord!" A deep peace that I cannot describe filled my soul. It was as if a heavy load lifted off me.
It was that day that I gained a fresh understanding of Philippians 4:6-7
"Don't worry or be anxious about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you trust in Christ Jesus."
To experience this peace, you need not climb some mountain or travel hundreds of miles. You can experience this divine peace right where you are. As you daily draw near to the Lord and commit yourself to deeper intimacy with Him, His peace will become a guard that drives out fear and brings joy. The peace of God is a reality, and I pray that you, too would experience this reality daily.

Prayer
Father, be gracious to me, O God, according to Your steadfast, loyal love; according to the greatness of Your compassion. As I draw near to You, help me experience Your divine peace this day and every day of my life. In Jesus' name. Amen.
