Discouragement
David was greatly distressed, for the men spoke of stoning him because the souls of them all were bitterly grieved, each man for his sons and daughters. But David encouraged and strengthened himself in the Lord his God. (1 Samuel 30:6 Amplified)
There is no person on this earth who has not come across disappointment in some form or the other. When things don’t happen according to our plans, we tend to get disappointed and discouraged. Disappointment if not nipped in the bud will soon grow into discouragement. The root of discouragement is disappointment. In these end times, discouragement is a major weapon that the devil uses to cripple the children of God, his arch enemies.
This is one of the reasons that, “God anointed and consecrated Jesus of Nazareth (His Son) with the [Holy] Spirit and with strength and ability and power; how He went about doing good and, in particular, curing all who were harassed and oppressed by [the power of] the devil, for God was with Him. (Acts 10:38 Amplified)
During His earthly ministry, Lord Jesus would go around delivering people from the power of the devil. The good news is that this same power to stand tall out of discouragement is available to all of us. Know that it is not God’s will for you to be wallowing in discouragement. It is not God’s will for you to be oppressed and frustrated.
One of the major dangers of discouragement is that when a person is discouraged, he or she tends to remain on the same spot; on the same level. Stagnancy and limitations soon set in. Such a person then cannot pursue the dream and the vision that God has deposited in him. In the course of my ministry, I have come across many such individuals who have been attacked by the arrows of discouragement.
Even as you read this devotional the anointing to overcome is coming upon you right now in Jesus’ name.

Prayer
Father, in the name of Jesus, every arrow of discouragement against me be cut off by fire in the name of Jesus.
In the name of Jesus, I reject every form of discouragement and failure against me.
Father, in the name of Jesus, I ask You for the spirit of courage and boldness to continue doing the things that You have called me to do.
