Now Ben-Hadad, the king of Syria, gathered all his forces together; thirty-two kings were with him, with horses and chariots. And he went up and besieged Samaria and made war against it. (1 Kings 20:1)
The enemy will always unite to fight against God’s people. 32 Kings united to fight against Israel. This fact itself tells us how seriously the enemy takes us.
Pilate and Herod became friends to crucify Jesus on the cross.
The time has come for some tables to be turned. We can have our own petty differences just like we have at home, but that does not mean we speak about them in the marketplaces or on social media for all to hear.
Stop pulling down churches (no matter what denomination), men and women of God or even fellow Christians on social media. If you don’t like them or something, they are doing, pray for them. If you cannot do that, shut up. That, too, will cause a blessing to come upon you.
And all the elders and all the people said to him, “Do not listen or consent.” (1 Kings 20:8)
The enemy spoke pompous words against Israel, but I like what the elders advised Ahab. “Do not listen or consent.” In other words, don’t get swayed by what the enemy says, don’t give in.
Also, if we have to overcome the enemy, the prophetic voice must be given precedence. The prophetic voice is the now word to the church. It gives direction and exposes the tactics of the enemy.
Unfortunately, many in the church speak against the prophetic
1. Because they don’t move in that gifting and see it as a threat to their own leadership. However, the truth is everyone has a unique calling which demands that we function together as we need each other.
2. In every family, there are bad apples (or black sheep - whatever you like to call them). Likewise, there are prophets for profit, Facebook prophets who get their information from social media and act as if they heard from the Lord etc. However, all this does not negate the fact there will always be a true remnant. It is such that we need to pray that their tribe increase. God is faithful and will surely hear.
3. On the other side, prophets, too, must lay down their egos and work together with fellow prophets if we are to see a breakthrough in this nation. I know of many prophets who cannot see eye to eye; if we cannot put our heads together, then at least put our tails together for the kingdom sake.
Then these young leaders of the provinces went out of the city with the army which followed them. (1 Kings 20:19)
Scripture does not tell us their names but just calls them young leaders. God is about to raise nameless and faceless leaders who say, Lord; it's not my name but your name that I care more about.
In God’s kingdom, age is not a criterion for great works but a malleable spirit, a fresh wineskin that can accommodate God in this present move. Not rigid people who tell God how to move, when to move and where to move. Try telling that to the wind.
Then the servants of the king of Syria said to him, “Their gods are gods of the hills. Therefore they were stronger than we; but if we fight against them in the plain, surely we will be stronger than they. (1 Kings 20:23)
The battleground will shift. Earlier it was the streets; now, it will social media. But even there, the Lord will prove to the Syrians that He is God of the hills and the plains.
But the rest fled to Aphek, into the city; then a wall fell on twenty-seven thousand of the men who were left. (1 Kings 20:30)
God will fight for and with His people.
