Chapter 17

7 Also in the third year of his reign he sent his princes Ben-hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel, and Micaiah to teach in the cities of Judah;

9 And they taught in Judah, and had the Book of the Law of the Lord with them; they went about throughout all the cities of Judah and taught among the people

10 And a terror from the Lord fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat. (2 Chronicles 17:7,9,10)

It is said in 2 Chronicles 17:2 that Jehoshaphat stationed troops in each of the walled cities, but it does not say that as a result, "the fear of the Lord fell upon the neighbouring nations" at that time. However, once he had established a teaching ministry in each city, his adversaries feared him and refrained from engaging in battle against him. This underscores the importance and impact of a doctrinally sound teaching ministry.
