Who were the 70 (or 72) disciples in Luke 10?
After these things the Lord appointed seventy others also, and sent them two by two before His face into every city and place where He Himself was about to go. (Luke 10:1)
In addition to the 12 that Jesus raised, this was another team of 70, further divided into groups of 2.
Luke 10 is the only place where we find the account of Jesus sending a precise number of disciples (70 or 72) to pave the way for Him. Most of the inconsistencies in the number (either 70 or 72) are due to variances identified in around half of the ancient scrolls that were utilised in translation.
In light of the fact that the number 70 appears in other places in Scripture (Exodus 24:1; Numbers 11:16), it is possible that the true number of disciples was 70, with the additional two being the result of a typographical error. It doesn't matter if Jesus sent out 70 or 72 disciples; the number is immaterial. All that matters is that they followed the instructions Jesus gave them and that they were empowered by the Holy Spirit to perform miracles and drive out evil spirits (Luke 10:17).
Then He said to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. (Luke 10:2)
Prayer Point:
Father, I thank You for the great harvest that you have trusted us with. O Lord of the harvest, send the right people in to the harvest
What is the Law of Attraction in the Bible?
Do you know that consciously or subconsciously, we act like human magnets attracting the very same thing that we send out whether it be emotions, thoughts or actions.
The Law of Attraction can be seen all throughout the Bible.
For if you give, you will get! Your gift will return to you in full and overflowing measure, pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, and running over. Whatever measure you use to give—large or small—will be used to measure what is given back to you.” (Luke 6:38 TLB)
Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. (Galatians 6:7)
And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest on it; if not, it will return to you. (Luke 10:6)
You will attract who you are. If you are a man or a woman of peace you will attract peace.
The better you become, the better you attract. Instead of looking for people to better you, start working on yourself.
“Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. (Luke 10:13)
Lord Jesus said, “For if the mighty works which were done in Chorazin and Bethsaida would have been done in Tyre and Sidon, these cities would have repented long ago” This clearly brings out a principle that for cities to turn to the Lord, mighty works of the Lord must be done in them.
What are the Three Dimensions of Signs and Wonders?
1.There is one dimension of signs and wonders where you see signs and wonders before your eyes
Then He turned to His disciples and said privately, “Blessed are the eyes which see the things you see; for I tell you that many prophets and kings have desired to see what you see, and have not seen it, and to hear what you hear, and have not heard it.” (Luke 10:23-24)
2.There is another dimension of signs and wonders where you do the signs and wonders
Here am I and the children whom the Lord has given me! We are for signs and wonders in Israel. From the Lord of hosts, Who dwells in Mount Zion. (Isaiah 8:18)
3.There is also the dimension of signs and wonders where you become a sign and a wonder
For [just] as Jonah became a sign to the people of Nineveh, so will also the Son of Man be [a sign] to this age and generation. (Luke 11:30)
But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.” (Luke 10:40)
Much serving can be a distraction.
