01. The Moment of Truth

I heard the story of a couple whose love for each other was strong and emulating. However, one thing that was consistent with them was that they were always at least 15 minutes late for every event: church service, dinners, or even parties.

After some years, the husband got sick and died. The funeral was to be in the church sanctuary, but surprisingly, the wife refused to step out of the car into the church. Everyone felt she was still in a denial state, and so they all tried to persuade her, knowing how much she loved her late husband. Finally, the pastor went to the car to speak with her and encouraged her to enter the church so they could commence the service. She insisted she wasn’t stepping out of the vehicle.

After much persuasion, she finally confessed to the pastor and said, “That man in the coffin made me late for every event for 45 years of our marriage because he waited until the last minute to start preparing. So, I’ll not be on time for his funeral.”

Have you been in an awkward situation because you weren’t prepared for what was ahead? This is like most of us. We sometimes rush into things and then blame others for the flop when in a real sense, it was simply our lack of preparation or delayed preparation. The New Year is only a few weeks away, and I’ve carefully written this book to encourage you to prepare for the New Year.

Too often, we want magic to happen at the last minute when we could have prepared for the outcome. The Bible says in Proverbs 16:1, “The preparations of the heart belong to man, But the answer of the tongue is from the Lord.” Did you see that striking truth? Preparation is an important requirement in God taking you where He wants you to go. Being prepared is vital whether you are walking 100 miles in a week or training for the Olympics.

I know the New Year is filled with diverse opportunities, but you need to prepare to maximize the year’s blessings. I believe that as you read this book, your eyes of understanding will be opened to know what you need to do regarding the New Year. I am convinced that the Spirit of God would inspire the step to take from now so you can be positioned for the flow of the new order of blessings.
