Martyn Lloyd-Jones wrote in his book God’s ultimate purpose, “Our supreme need is to know God” One of the mistakes we can make is to think we know all of God already. We think we know how He works and His operations, so we just maintain our walk with Him and allow things to flow at will.
However, God is dynamic, so we must keep searching to know Him more. Romans 11:33 says, “Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!” His way is deeper than our ways, and His paths are wider than ours. So, all God is calling us into is a deeper walk with Him.
I know you had some revelation of Him this year, but there is more to God. The worse condition anyone can ever get to is to be too full of wanting to know God more. A player stops preparing when He concludes that nothing is at stake anymore. That shouldn’t be you and I. We should always long to know God more.
The truth is no matter on which level you are, there is more to God. The Bible explains this truth in Ezekiel 47:3-5, “And when the man went out to the east with the line in his hand, he measured one thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the water came up to my ankles. Again, he measured one thousand and brought me through the waters; the water came up to my knees. Again he measured one thousand and brought me through; the water came up to my waist. Again, he measured one thousand, and it was a river that I could not cross; for the water was too deep, water in which one must swim, a river that could not be crossed.” We are all on different levels, and God desires that we dive deeper for greater experiences.
Paul was one of the greatest apostles in the New Testament. He wrote a larger part of the New Testament. He was indeed a man of deep insight into the ways of God. Peter wrote about Him in 2 Peter 3:14-16, “Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless; and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation — as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they also do the rest of the Scriptures.” He wasn’t tired of knowing God more.
Yet, Apostle Paul wrote in Philippians 3:10-11, “that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.” Even at that spiritual level, Paul still wanted to know God more. He still desires to dive deeper into God. What of you?
I want you to understand that there is always a higher level in God, which is why you must prepare. Don’t get stagnant on the level you currently are on. There is a great danger; if you don’t prepare, you will have to constantly repair and lose time. So make a move every day. Start looking for another level of divine inspiration and insight. God wants to reveal His ways to you so you can be in command of His acts. But too often, we want His acts, and miracles, so we keep hopping from one church to another, asking for prayers.
God is a miracle worker, but beyond that, He wants you to command the miracles. Your life should be an example of what God has done. Your life should manifest His power and greatness. So, you need to prepare for such an encounter.
In the book of Amos 4:12, the Bible says, “Therefore thus will I do to you, O Israel; cause I will do this to you, Prepare to meet your God, O Israel!” This is God asking the children of Israel that they can’t meet him casually. They can’t draw nearer and closer to Him like someone who wants to stroll down the street. They need to prepare to meet Him. In the earlier verses, God recounted the many great things He did among them over the years, and you would agree with me that these nations knew God well. They had a firsthand revelation of the ways of God.
Amos 4:9-12 says, “I blasted you with blight and mildew. When your gardens increased, Your vineyards, Your fig trees, And your olive trees, The locust devoured them; Yet you have not returned to Me,” Says the Lord. “I sent among you a plague after the manner of Egypt; Your young men I killed with a sword, Along with your captive horses; I made the stench of your camps come up into your nostrils, Yet you have not returned to Me,” Says the Lord. “I overthrew some of you, As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, And you were like a firebrand plucked from the burning; Yet you have not returned to Me,” Says the Lord.”
Did you see that? They have countless words to describe God, yet He was calling them in verse 11 to return to Him. And to do so, they must prepare to meet Him. God is saying to you also, do you want to know me more in the coming year? Then prepare your ways from now. What is ahead is nothing compared to what you have now. No one can boast of knowing God absolutely. We are all striving to know Him more. We are all at a level striving for the next level of experience. So, make up your mind to prepare your ways to meet your God this New Year.
Jessy Dixon wrote a song titled, Fill My Cup. Here is a portion of the lyrics,
“Like the woman at the well
I was seeking
For things that could not satisfy
And then I heard my Savior speaking
“Draw from My well that never shall run dry”
Fill my cup, Lord
I lift it up, Lord
Come and quench this thirsting of my soul
Bread of Heaven, feed me ’til I want no more
Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole
There are millions in this world
Who are craving
The pleasures, earthly things of gold
But none can match the wondrous treasure
That I find in Jesus Christ my Lord
Prepare your cup so that God may fill it up to overflow. Clean it up and make it ready for the Master to fill you. You have cycled this point for one year; it’s time to move to a new level of experience.
