Today is not just another day for you or for me. Today, you have an appointment with destiny.
Whenever you step into the presence of God, you are stepping into divine purpose. Something is about to shift in your life because you’re not just meeting a friend—you’re meeting the King of kings.
"You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore." — Psalm 16:11 (NKJV)
Many people treat the presence of God too casually. They show up physically but not spiritually. But when heaven meets earth, something must change—something will change.
"Do not come any closer," God said. "Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground." — Exodus 3:5 (NIV)
When you enter His presence, come with holy reverence and humble expectancy. It is not a ritual—it is a divine encounter.
When you come before God, come with expectant faith—the unwavering belief that God will move on your behalf.
Say it aloud: Expectant Faith.
Remember how we were as children? The night before a school picnic, no one needed to wake us up. We were excited, restless, and full of joy. That’s the kind of anticipation you must bring when coming before God.
"But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind." — James 1:6 (NKJV)
Expectancy positions your heart to receive.
Without expectancy, worship becomes a ritual, a lifeless routine. But when you expect God to move, your relationship with Him becomes vibrant and alive.
David said, "I was glad when they said to me, 'Let us go into the house of the Lord.'" — Psalm 122:1 (NKJV)
That gladness came from expectancy.
Expectancy Produces Intimacy
When you fell in love, before the official titles of "husband" and "wife" came, your heart raced at the thought of seeing that person. There was anticipation, excitement, and joy. That’s what being in the presence of God should feel like.
Let’s not treat our meetings with God like obligations, but as divine appointments filled with joyful expectancy.
So here’s the first key: Expectancy.
Say it again: Expectancy.
"According to your faith let it be to you." — Matthew 9:29 (NKJV)
If you come before the Lord expecting nothing, you’ll receive nothing. But if you come expecting a breakthrough, healing, direction, or a word, He will honour that faith.
"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." — Hebrews 11:1 (NKJV)
Think of the woman with the issue of blood (Mark 5:25-34). She said in her heart, "If I may touch His garment, I will be made whole."
That was expectant faith in action.
- She hadn't seen the healing yet, but she was fully convinced.
- Her faith had substance— a firm belief in Jesus’ power.
- Her faith was the evidence that a miracle was about to happen—before it happened.
- Expectancy shouldn’t be reserved for special meetings or year-end services. If you cultivate it daily, you’ll begin to receive from God—not once in a year, but again and again.
"Blessed is the man who listens to Me, watching daily at My gates, waiting at the posts of My doors." — Proverbs 8:34 (NKJV)
Some time back, I visited a wealthy nation—Saudi Arabia. The country is known for its riches, and so are its people. Many workers and servants serve under the wealthy there. What struck me most was how the servants would watch the hands of their masters. Not their faces. Not their gestures. Just their hands.
The moment the master would place his hand inside the jubbah (robe), the servants' eyes lit up in expectation. They weren't just hoping; they knew something was coming. They were used to receiving.
"I lift up my eyes to the hills—Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth." — Psalm 121:1–2
This image spoke to my spirit:
"When God comes into our midst, do we expect like that?"
Many Christians today live in stagnant spiritual relationships with God. Why? Because they no longer expect God to move. They have reduced their walk with God to a religious routine—one without faith-fueled anticipation.
