Now, please go with me to Isaiah 60:1.
“Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.” — Isaiah 60:1 (NKJV)
Let’s break this down:
- The command is Arise—this means you must get up from the place where you currently are.
- It implies movement, effort, and intentionality.
You can’t shine unless you arise. Many are waiting for God to move, but God is waiting for you to rise.
The Power of Rising Up
Think of Bartimaeus, the blind beggar (Mark 10:46–52). He sat by the roadside for years, begging, forgotten and invisible. But one day, he heard Jesus was passing by. He cried out, was told to be quiet, and then Jesus called him. And what did he do?
“And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus.” — Mark 10:50
That moment of rising changed everything.
The light of God entered his eyes, and he was never a beggar again.
Some of you are still sitting in unforgiveness, in bitterness, in comfort zones. And you're wondering why the glory hasn’t come.
You must rise in:
- Your prayer life
- Your Bible reading
- Your attitude
- Your obedience
- Your forgiveness
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!” — Isaiah 43:18–19 (NIV)
When you rise, the glory of God will shine upon you.
You say, “That person hurt me. I will never forgive that person in this lifetime.” But what you don’t realise is that you are the one imprisoned. The glory can’t rest upon a heart heavy with resentment. Forgiveness is not a feeling—it’s a decision to rise from the pit of pain.
“If you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.” — Matthew 6:14
Don’t stay stuck. Get up from spiritual slumber. The first action that precedes transformation is always rising up.
