Marital Settlement, Healing and Blessing
Then the LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.” (Genesis 2:18 NLT)
Marriage is a divine institution established by God for fruitfulness, fellowship, and collaboration. One of the sacred responsibilities given to parents is to raise children in the knowledge and ways of the Lord. These children become God’s representatives His soldiers in the earthly realm. Because the devil understands the power and influence of a godly home, he wages relentless warfare against marriages and families.
“For the LORD God is a sun and shield;
The LORD will give grace and glory;
No good thing will He withhold
From those who walk uprightly.”
(Psalm 84:11)
Yet Scripture also warns:
“Your iniquities have turned these things away,
and your sins have withheld good from you.”
(Jeremiah 5:25)
Marriage is a good thing, and God does not withhold good from His people. If there is a withholding, do not settle for less it is not God’s will for your life. Either sin or the adversary is at work. Understanding the enemy’s strategies helps you fight effectively.
Common Attacks satan Launches Against Marital Settlement and Blessing
1. Wrong Choice
Samson was deeply anointed, yet he made repeated marital mistakes that eventually truncated his destiny. Many enter marriage for the wrong reasons pressure, appearance, money, loneliness, or emotions. Wrong motives attract the wrong partners.
Choosing a life partner is more than physical beauty or material comfort. You cannot discern the spiritual realm with your natural senses; only God can reveal hidden things and His perfect will. Some have unknowingly married partners who sabotage their divine destiny.
Be prayerful. Be watchful. Be spiritual.
2. Delay in Marriage or Delay in Conception
“But the path of the just is like the shining sun,
that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.”
(Proverbs 4:18)
Delay is not God’s desire for His children. He wants us to keep rising, shining, and moving from glory to glory. Prolonged delay whether in marriage or conception is often an attack from the wicked one.
3. Attacking Children Early
“Train up a child in the way he should go,
and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
(Proverbs 22:6)
“Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one’s youth…
They shall not be ashamed,
but shall speak with their enemies in the gate.”
(Psalm 127:4–5)
If parents train their children in the ways of the Lord, those children become mighty warriors for God’s kingdom. The devil recognises the greatness planted in every child, so he attempts to capture their minds early through peer influence, ungodly music, and toxic content on social media.
Spiritual training is not optional. If you provide only academic and material support, the enemy will exploit the spiritual vacuum. Protect your children through prayer and intentional value-building. Make sure that they are attending Sunday School (Kids ministry at Church).
4. Divorce
“Therefore, what God has joined together, let not man separate.”
(Mark 10:9)
Even if you marry the right person, satan will still attempt to destroy the union. He may introduce storms poverty, sickness, stress, or misunderstandings. Many couples who divorced never planned to separate. They began with promises like “till death do us part,” but the enemy used unresolved conflicts and pressure to tear them apart.
Awareness of the enemy’s devices gives you an advantage in spiritual warfare.
5. Adultery
“…lest satan should take advantage of us;
for we are not ignorant of his devices.”
(2 Corinthians 2:11)
Adultery is one of the most destructive weapons satan uses. He positions a strange man or woman to seduce married partners. Once the person falls, shame brings secrecy, and secrecy strengthens the bondage.
A respected man of God once warned that one open door to adultery is when couples watch x-rated material together. Those performing such acts are not married, and watching them invites the spirit of sexual immorality into the home. Guard your eyes and protect your marriage.
How to Experience Marital Settlement, Healing, and Blessing
Whether you are facing pain in your marriage, praying for healing, believing God for settlement, or desiring marital favour God’s Word has made provision for you.
Below are the steps you must take:
1. Develop a Covenant Mentality
“Search from the book of the LORD…
Not one shall lack her mate.”
(Isaiah 34:16)
If God cares for birds and animals, ensuring none lack a mate, how much more will He care for you?
Jesus said:
“You are of more value than many sparrows.”
(Matthew 10:31)
If you are single, do not view marriage as what completes you. Marriage is not your identity Christ is.
“You are complete in Him.”
(Colossians 2:10)
2. Grow in Love
Love has the power to heal marriages, restore broken families, and attract God’s presence into the home.
“And now abide faith, hope, love… but the greatest of these is love.”
(1 Corinthians 13:13)
One of the ways to grow in love is to spend time in worship. As you worship, God pours His love into your heart (Romans 5:5). Love is not a feeling it is a force. It is a fruit of the Spirit. And it is essential for marital peace.
3. Develop Good Character
“…tribulation produces perseverance;
and perseverance, character;
and character, hope.”
(Romans 5:3–4)
Character determines whether you enjoy your marriage or endure it. Spirituality without character can still destroy a home. Anger, pride, carelessness, laziness, selfishness, and dishonour can damage a marriage regardless of how gifted one may be.
Good character builds the home. Bad character breaks it and sets children on a path of struggle.
Remember
God desires marital settlement, marital healing, and marital blessing for His people. When you understand the enemy’s strategies and align your life with God’s Word, your home becomes a fortress of peace, joy, and divine purpose.
If you apply these principles covenant mentality, love, and godly character your marriage will fulfil God’s plan, and you will walk in the fullness of His blessing.
