Resisting And Reversing the Works of Darkness

“Today, I appoint you to stand up against nations and kingdoms. Some you must uproot and tear down, destroy and overthrow. Others you must build up and plant.”
— Jeremiah 1:10

Believers have a divine responsibility to oppose and destroy the works of darkness. Whatever you refuse to resist will continue to persist. Many believers mistakenly wait for God to resist the devil for them, not knowing that Scripture places this responsibility directly upon us: “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you” (James 4:7).

The operations of darkness are real. We see evidence of them in our communities, news reports, and nations. Some attempt to explain these things away intellectually, but spiritually sensitive people know that these events often have spiritual origins.

Our standard is Christ. As we grow in Him, we learn to imitate how He destroyed the works of the devil during His earthly ministry.

“…how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil…”
— Acts 10:38

What Are the Weapons of the Enemy?

This is not an exhaustive list, but these examples will open your eyes to how the enemy operates and provide scriptural understanding to counter his devices.

1. Sickness and Disease

Many sicknesses have demonic origins.

In Luke 13, Jesus encountered a woman crippled for eighteen years by an evil spirit:

“This woman… has been held in bondage by satan for eighteen years.”
— Luke 13:16

If Jesus had not intervened, she would have died in her affliction. Christ’s deliverance reveals the enemy’s hand in prolonged infirmities.

2. Accusations

The devil tempts believers to sin and then turns around to accuse them before God.

“…satan was there… making accusations against Joshua.”
— Zechariah 3:1–2

“The accuser of our brethren… who accused them before God day and night…”
— Revelation 12:10

Jesus Himself faced accusations from satan in the wilderness. He overcame by standing firmly on God’s Word—an example for every believer.

3. Manipulation, Fear, Doubt, and Lies

The enemy’s most effective tools are lies and deception. If you are ignorant of truth, the devil will sell lies to you.

“If You are the Son of God…”
— Matthew 4:3

Lies open the door to sickness, fear, confusion, death, and poverty. God’s Word is the antidote to every deception.

4. Evil Arrows

Evil arrows are spiritual attacks aimed at derailing destinies, programming affliction, or even taking lives.

“The wicked… shoot secretly at the upright in heart.”
— Psalm 11:2

“…they shoot their arrows—bitter words.”
— Psalm 64:3

These arrows can come as words, curses, or invisible spiritual attacks. One of the strongest defences against them is the armour of God (Ephesians 6:10–17).

5. Spiritual Blindness

Spiritual blindness keeps people bound under satan’s influence.

“…to open their eyes… to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of satan to God.”
— Acts 26:18

“The god of this world has blinded their minds…”
— 2 Corinthians 4:4

When your eyes are opened, liberation follows.

6. Death, Depression, and Barrenness

The spirit of death operates in many forms—sudden collapse, suicide, accidents, disasters, war, or chronic destruction.

“The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy…”
— John 10:10

Depression, hopelessness, and barrenness are often signs of spiritual attack.

7. Failure and Poverty

Poverty is a weapon used to limit destinies. Many fall into sin, compromise, or despair because of financial lack.

“My God shall supply all your need…”
— Philippians 4:19

God wants His children provided for so they can fulfil His purpose.

8. Sin

Sin is one of the enemy’s most effective weapons. Disobedience opens the door for demonic operations.

“Sin is lawlessness.”
— 1 John 3:4

When you live in disobedience, the enemy gains legal access to attack.

How Do We Destroy the Works of Darkness?

1. Engage the Force of Faith

Faith quenches every fiery arrow of the wicked.

“All things are possible to him who believes.”
— Mark 9:23

Lazarus died due to sickness (an attack of darkness), but Jesus reversed it through divine power. Your faith can reverse any evil report.

2. Engage the Truth

The truth is a weapon. It dismantles deception, destroys blindness, and overturns satanic operations.

“You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
— John 8:32, 36

Truth must be personally discovered. The truth you know determines the victory you experience.

3. Engage the Force of Love

Love carries power. It is not weakness it is spiritual force.

“Overcome evil with good.”
— Romans 12:21

“He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.”
— 1 John 4:8

When you walk in love, you disarm satan’s influence.

4. Go for the Anointing

The anointing destroys yokes.

“The yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.”
— Isaiah 10:27

The anointing is God’s power at work through His Spirit and His Word. Believers carry this anointing within; speak, decree, and pray with boldness.

5. Exercise Your Authority in Christ

Authority must be used unused authority is wasted authority.

“Every plant not planted by My Father will be uprooted.”
— Matthew 15:13

Jesus came to destroy the works of darkness (1 John 3:8) and has delegated His authority to us. If we fail to bind, heaven will not back our inaction.

Use your authority to reverse evil decrees, uproot satanic works, dismantle attacks, and establish God’s will.

Final Charge

The purpose of Jesus’ coming was to undo the works of darkness. As His representatives, we have been empowered to continue this assignment.

Stop groaning. Stop helplessly enduring attacks.

Rise. Resist. Reverse.

Use your authority as a believer. The enemy’s power is broken, and God’s power is available.

I declare: Things are turning around for your good, in Jesus’ name.

Bible Reading Plan : John 6 - 9

Pray each prayer missile for at least 2 minutes or until you sense a release in your spirit.

1. I pull down any evil altar promoting failure, sickness, and trouble in my life and my family in Jesus' name. (Judges 6:25-26)

2. I uproot any hidden sickness and disease in my body, waiting for manifestation in Jesus' name. (Jeremiah 30:17)

3. Any evil stranger hanging around my house and my life, fade away from your hiding places in Jesus' name. (Psalm 18:45)

4. I reverse any evil done against me by the enemy in Jesus’ name. (Isaiah 54:17)

5. Every good thing that belongs to me, come to me now in Jesus’ name. (Deuteronomy 28:2)

6. I destroy anything that the devil has done against me in Jesus' name. (1 John 3:8)

7. I silence every evil tongue, speaking judgment against me and my family in Jesus' name. (Isaiah 54:17)

8. I silence every voice of iniquity and accusation against my life and family in Jesus' name. (Revelation 12:10)

9. I release the angels of God into strategic places, and I decree, let them begin to dispossess every satanic contention against my blessings, family, and advancement in Jesus' name. (Psalm 103:20)

10. I overturn any satanic agenda against my life; let everything begin to work together for my good in Jesus’ name. (Romans 8:28)

11. I cancel anything that is programmed to waste my destiny in Jesus' name. (Isaiah 54:16-17)

12. Any evil waiting to manifest against my life and my family members, be nullified in Jesus' name. (Colossians 2:14)

13. I erase any evil handwriting, any judgment, and accusations against my life and reputation in Jesus' name. (Colossians 2:14)

14. By the blood of Jesus, I overcome every wicked personality and principalities assigned against my rising in Jesus' name. (Revelation 12:11)

15. I pull down ancient strongholds and evil covenants affecting my progress and glory in Jesus' name. (2 Corinthians 10:4)

16. By the blood of Jesus, I am exempted from evil, trouble, afflictions, and destruction in Jesus' name. (Exodus 12:13)

17. I loose every one of my locked benefits and blessings in Jesus' name. (Isaiah 45:2-3)

18. Father, change the times and seasons for my good in Jesus' name. (Daniel 2:21)

19. Father, empower my spirit man in Jesus' name. (Ephesians 3:16)

20.Father, give me and everyone on this fasting program your spirit of wisdom and revelation so that we may know You more in Jesus’ name. (Ephesians 1:17)
