The Bible tells us of a remarkable and easily overlooked detail about the tabernacle of Moses:
“On the first day of the first month you shall set up the tabernacle of the tent of meeting” (Exodus 40:2).
“And it came to pass in the first month of the second year, on the first day of the month, that the tabernacle was raised up” (Exodus 40:17).
In other words, God chose New Year’s Day as the moment His dwelling place among Israel was established. This was not accidental. It was intentional, prophetic, and deeply instructive for us as we step into 1st January 2026.
God Begins with His Presence
The tabernacle was not merely a structure it was the visible sign of God’s presence dwelling with His people. Before Israel moved forward in conquest, settlement, or expansion, God ensured that His presence was established first.
This reveals a very powerful principle: God does not begin years with activity; He begins them with presence.
Lord Jesus taught us this very pattern centuries later when He said,
“Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Matthew 6:33).
A blessed year is not one that starts with plans alone, but one that begins with God enthroned at the center of your life.
A Sacred Reset
The first month marked a new cycle for Israel. By commanding the tabernacle to be raised on that very day, God was teaching them that every new beginning must be consecrated.
Apostle Paul captures this truth in the New Testament when he writes,
“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
A new year is not merely a calendar change it is an invitation to set our lives right with God’s purposes. What we dedicate first often determines what follows.
Structure Precedes Glory
Before the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle (Exodus 40:34), Moses carefully followed God’s instructions. Every curtain, socket, altar, and furnishing was placed according to divine order.
This teaches us that God’s glory rests where His order is honored.
Apostle Paul reminds us Christians,
“Let all things be done decently and in order” (1 Corinthians 14:40).
As you enter 2026, God is not only interested in your prayers, but also in your decisions, disciplines, and daily obedience. Always remember, structure creates space for glory.
From Tent to Temple to You
The tabernacle was temporary, the temple was permanent—but today, something even greater is true:
“Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?” (1 Corinthians 3:16).
On this first day of the year, God is not asking you to raise a tent of fabric and poles. He is inviting you to present your life anew as His dwelling place.
“Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God” (Romans 12:1).
A Prophetic Invitation for 2026
Begin the year with God
and you won’t have to chase what the year holds.
When God’s presence comes first, direction, provision, and victory follow.
In the name of Jesus, I prophesy, “The Lord will go before you, and the God of Israel will be your rear guard all throughout this year”
Happy New Year to you all.
