Purpose
“I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” — Psalm 139:14-NIV
Every human life is intentional. God did not create you by accident or as a copy of someone else. You were designed carefully, thoughtfully, and lovingly by God. The Bible reminds us that His works are marvellous and you are one of those works.
God created every person on this earth to accomplish something specific that no one else can accomplish in the same way. This truth is important to understand because many people live their entire lives comparing themselves to others, never realizing their own God-given purpose.
Born to Be Known for Something
You and I were designed to be known for something special. We were created to do something meaningful something that will leave a mark beyond our lifetime. Not everyone will stand on a stage or be widely celebrated, but everyone has a calling that matters deeply to God.
Throughout the Bible, we see ordinary people doing small acts that produced extraordinary results. These were not famous leaders or powerful rulers, but everyday individuals who obeyed God when the moment came.
Grace in an Unexpected Life
One such example is Rahab. The Bible introduces her as a prostitute living in Jericho. Yet when two Israelite spies came into the city, Rahab made a brave choice.
“She hid the two men and said, ‘Yes, the men came to me, but I did not know where they had come from.’”— Joshua 2:4–5-ESV
Rahab risked her life to protect these spies people she had never met before. This single act helped Israel defeat Jericho (see Joshua 6). What looked like a small decision was actually a prophetic act of intercession. She stood in the gap for God’s people.
You may feel called to pray quietly for others, even when no one sees it. Intercession may not look exciting, but it carries great value in heaven.
Rahab’s story did not end in Jericho.
“Salmon the father of Boaz by Rahab…”
— Matthew 1:5 ESV
Rahab married into the tribe of Judah and became the mother of Boaz. Through Boaz, she entered the lineage of Lord Jesus Christ. A woman once known for her past became part of God’s redemption story. That is grace powerful, undeserved, and life-changing.
A Woman Whose Act Was Never Forgotten
In the New Testament, we read about another woman who performed a simple yet costly act. She brought an alabaster jar of perfume and poured it on Jesus’ head.
“She broke the jar and poured the perfume on His head.”— Mark 14:3-NIV
Others criticized her, calling it a waste. But Jesus defended her saying:
“Leave her alone… She has done a beautiful thing to Me.”— Mark 14:6-NIV
Lord Jesus went on to say:
“Truly I tell you, wherever the gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her.”— Mark 14:9-NIV
When Heaven Takes Notice
No act is too small when your whole heart is in it. When you pour your life into what God has placed before you, it will not be forgotten. Heaven remembers faithfulness even when the world does not.
Your obedience, your prayers, your quiet acts of love all matter. God sees them, honours them, and weaves them into His greater plan.
You were made on purpose for a purpose.
Bible Reading: Leviticus 10-12
Confession
I will delight myself in the Lord, and He shall give me the desires of my heart. In Christ, I am the head and not the tail.
