One thing that I believe is often lacking in many of our prayers is a sense of urgency. 1 Peter 4:7 says, “The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear-minded and self-controlled so that you can pray” (NIV).
The Bible is filled with examples of people getting spectacular answers to prayers because they prayed with great urgency. Their prayers were filled with focus and intensity – that’s what I mean by urgency in your payers. One of them is Hannah.
Hannah’s prayers overcame her infertility (1 Samuel 1:1-20). Her realization that no human could help her made her go to the Lord in prayer. Instead of being critical about her circumstances or fighting back at her circumstances in her natural strength, she chose to pour out her heart in prayer before the Lord. Her urgent prayers brought about the birth of Prophet Samuel.
This is a perfect example of urgency in prayer, praying as if everything depended on your prayers.
Lord Jesus said, “Blessed are the poor in spirit” (Matthew 5:3). The blessing is that the person knows he’s poor in spirit. The end result is you are led to Jesus by a revelation of your need.
If we can develop a sense of urgency in our weekly intercessions, in our personal prayer lives instead of our casual approach, we would be amazed at what the Lord will do.

Prayer
Father, in the name of Jesus, I ask You for the anointing of prayer to rest upon me. Teach me to pray as Jesus prayed. Amen.
