“Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel arose and went to Ramah.” (1 Samuel 16: 13)
In the time of Moses, oil was used to anoint the high priest, his sons, the furniture of the tabernacle, and was even mixed with the bread on the table of showbread, recorded in Exodus chapters 29, 30, and 40. The Bible says in Exodus 40:9-11, “And you shall take the anointing oil, and anoint the tabernacle and all that is in it; and you shall hallow it and all its utensils, and it shall be holy. 10 You shall anoint the altar of the burnt offering and all its utensils, and consecrate the altar. The altar shall be most holy. 11 And you shall anoint the laver and its base, and consecrate it.”
The anointing oil was mainly applied to people when we wanted to commission them for an assignment. It’s a symbol of divine presence and supernatural ability. All the kings in Israel had to be anointed before ascending the throne. When David was anointed, the Spirit of God came upon Him. So, it is a medium for the transference of the Spirit of God. So, always anoint your children at all times.
Some people wait until the pastor organizes an anointing service before they feel obliged or have enough faith to apply it. But, no. God is the same if we engage the kingdom mysteries by faith. The anointing keeps evil spirits of the last days off your children and family and enforces the release of the Spirit of God into them. They become carriers of the Holy Spirit anywhere they go.
The Bible says in James 5:14-15, “Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.” The anointing is vital to cure any form of sickness and disease. You can send that recurring illness away if you apply the anointing on that ailing child by faith.
Likewise, anointing your house involves taking oil, which represents the Holy Spirit’s anointing, and applying it to different parts of your home. While the oil itself does not have any intrinsic value, in Scripture, the act of anointing was seen as a consecration of a person or thing to God.
Moses anointed the vessels of the tabernacle, and they became sanctified for the Lord. So, make it a norm always to anoint your home and your family. Anoint every corner and vessel in your home so they can be holy to the Lord. You are keeping the devil and all evil spirits away from your home through the anointing. It becomes a no-go area for the devil.
The vessels that Moses anointed were used as service to God alone. Likewise, every vessel in your home will remain an instrument for God’s glory when you engage the anointing.
So, where do I put the oil?
Because oil can stain, I suggest you use the oil on a wood surface rather than a painted surface or in inconspicuous places. Remember, it is an act of faith.
What must we speak while anointing the house?
As you apply the oil in your home, say these words by faith, “We guard our homes against physical intruders. Our home is sanctified unto the Lord. How much more do we need to protect it from spiritual intruders? So, change the atmosphere in your home as you introduce the force of the Spirit.
Prayer
Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank you for revealing this truth to me about the anointing. I pray that you give me the faith to believe this truth. As I apply the anointing oil from now, I pray that your Spirit will dwell in my home. In Jesus’ name. Amen
