Love of God
to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. (Ephesians 3:19)
Princess Alice, the daughter of Queen Victoria, lived a life filled with privilege and luxury. But when her son contracted the incurable disease black diphtheria, her world was thrown into chaos. The doctors warned Princess Alice to stay away from her son in order to protect herself from the highly contagious illness. Yet, her love for her son was stronger than her fear of the disease.
One day, Princess Alice overheard her son whisper to his nurse, "Why doesn't my mother kiss me anymore?" The sound of her son's voice, filled with longing and sadness, melted her heart. Despite the warnings from the doctors, Princess Alice ran to her son and smothered him with kisses, determined to show him the love and affection that he needed during this difficult time.
Tragically, Princess Alice passed away just a few days later. Her selfless act of love for her son, even in the face of danger, is a testament to the deep and unconditional love that a mother has for her child.
The death of Jesus on the cross was a painful and excruciating sacrifice that He made for us, and the reason behind this sacrifice was love. The apostle Paul wrote to the believers at Ephesus and emphasized the depth and magnitude of Christ's love, stating, "I want you to understand the exceeding greatness of Christ's love for us" (Ephesians 3:18).
The greatest demonstration of Jesus' love for humanity was His sacrifice on the cross. This selfless act of love is too wonderful to be measured and is a testament to the love that Jesus has for each and every one of us.
It's possible that you feel isolated and abandoned, with people who were supposed to love you failing to do so, and others who could have shown you love choosing not to. You may have been rejected by a loved one, left alone in a hospital, or deserted on your wedding day, resulting in an aching heart and emptiness. The experience has left you wondering, "Is there anyone who loves me?"
At a certain point in my life, I felt like I was all alone, with everyone turning their back on me. But it was then that the Lord revealed His presence in my life. I struggled to understand how a holy and just God could love someone like me, with my imperfections and flaws. Yet, His love rescued me and transformed me. I encourage you to surrender to His love and allow it to change your life completely.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I am grateful for Your immense love. Oh Holy Spirit, fill my heart with Your loving presence. I ask that You heal my inner wounds, in Jesus' name. Amen.
