"For a great and effective door has opened to me, and there are many adversaries." (1 Corinthians 16:9)
Doors are accesses to a room. We all pray to God to open doors for us; doors of favour, opportunity, marriage, healing, finances, breakthrough, etc. This is indeed God's desire for His children. He said in Revelations 3:8, "I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it." Open doors signify access to blessings that are beyond our imaginations. It is not God's desire that we struggle to get things done. So, through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus, on the cross, we have access to every good thing of life.
The Bible says in 2 Peter 1:3-4, "as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust." As a good Father, He has inheritances for His children, and He has willed them to us.
Apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthians from Ephesus on his third missionary journey, where he expressed his desire to be with the believers in Corinth and to spend some significant time with them. But he was excited to inform them that God had opened a great door of opportunity for him where he was to preach the gospel. As a result, the once fetish people in Ephesus gradually accepted and embraced the gospel preached by Paul.
The book of Joshua also recounts the story of the Israelites' conquest of the Promised Land. When they took possession of the Promised Land, they were retaking the land once owned by their ancestor Abraham. Having lived in Egypt for more than four hundred years, the Hebrews returned to homes that were previously built and owned by idol-worshipping heathen tribes, commonly referred to as Canaanites (Genesis 15:21).
Many times, doors don't just open because we knock on them. Instead, some are fortified to withstand our access to the blessings that God has prepared for us. For instance, after the children of Israel re-entered the Promised Land, the Hebrews discovered three major hindrances that are a reflection of the three battles Christians will encounter as they pursue the promises of God's blessings for their lives.
A). The walled cities (Numbers 13:28)
B). The race of giants (Numbers 13:33)
C). The seven opposing nations (Deuteronomy 7:1)
Each of these hindrances and challenges that stood in the path of progress for the Israelites has an application today and represents hindrances that Christians will experience as they journey on their road to experiencing the fullness of God's promises. I am not scaring you, but it's good you know that these hindrances are real, and they are pure manipulations of the devil.
God had given them the land already, but the devil tried to manipulate the people's minds so they would not enjoy the blessings of the Promised Land. But He has failed. Some people even blame God when they encounter such hindrances instead of blaming the devil. I want you to know that God's promises for your life are not lies but valid and shall come to pass.
Prayer
Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank you for the doors of favour and liftings you have opened for me so far. I pray that you help me to remain in the reality of this open door. I pray that every barrier against my open door is destroyed in Jesus' name. Amen.
