As a kid, my mom always told me to make the right kind of friends. Whether those in my school or even the bunch of friends with whom I played. But it wasn’t until I was in my early twenties that I really understood what she was trying to tell me.
“Do not be misled: ‘Bad company corrupts good character” (1 Corinthians 15:33)
Choosing to spend time with the right people is one of the most important decisions you can make in life. It’s also one of the most practical areas to begin discerning the voice of God and His will for your life.
Proverbs 13:20 says, “Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble.”
God wants to help you make wise choices about the people you let into your life, from friends to business colleagues to spouses. Finding the proper people is an important part of determining God’s will for your life.
Every time God does something significant in our lives, He introduces us to new people—ones who are connected to our destiny and purpose. Learning to discern God’s voice and follow His leading will remove you from bad relationships and bring you into contact with the right people.
The people with whom you tend to spend most of your time will be responsible either for your growth or your downfall. So it is important that you have the right people around you.
Two ways to get the right people around you:
The first quality you want to look for is a values match. Seek people whose values resonate with yours. If you value prayer, then the people with whom you should be in contact must be people who value prayer. And the list could go on. I hope you got what I am trying to say.
The second is to pray earnestly, “Lord surround me with the right people. Connect me with the right people.” The same Lord who sent the birds in the desert shall surely send the right people around you.
Follow this prophetic word and see your life go to the next level.

Prayer
Father, give me the gift of discernment in my life. Help me to know the right people from the wrong people and associate with those who are furthering Your kingdom. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
