“Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man against whom the Lord counts no iniquity (Psalm 32:1-2)
A man once had a dream in which he saw Jesus tied to a post and being whipped mercilessly. The man could not bear to see how the flesh of Jesus was being shredded by the whipping and rushed to stop the man who was whipping our Lord. When he held the hand of the man whipping and turned to see his face, the dreamer saw his own face.
All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, everyone, to his own way;
And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. (Isaiah 53:6)
What is the solution to the problem of iniquity? Jesus is the solution to all iniquity. Notice the words, “the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.” He paid the ultimate price for all our iniquity.
Not just any sacrifice would do. A perfect sacrifice was needed to completely pay for the sin of every person. That is why it was necessary for Jesus to be the sacrifice.
It was a perfect sacrifice by a perfect person to perfect some very imperfect people. (Hebrews 10:14-25 Msg)
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities; (Isaiah 53:5)
Jesus was wounded for our transgressions. A wound is something that can be easily seen on your body. A bruise is something deeper inside. Lord Jesus was bruised for our iniquities.
At an incredible personal cost, the Father holds out a solution to our sin problem. But, we have the choice to receive or reject His solution. Our personal response to the sacrifice of Jesus is crucial in applying God’s solution to our lives.
If you accept and apply God’s solution to your life, then the following verse will manifest in your life.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
