Change
For any change to be impactful and of value, it has to be lasting and consistent. Fickle changes can be frustrating and disappointing for all involved. Most people approach change with a sense of fear and anxiety because, on a deeper level, they really don’t believe that the change will be lasting. They sort of dread the fact that the change is going to only be temporary.
Today, I want to share with you principles on how you can bring lasting changes. These principles are simple and yet extremely powerful when applied. You may be an individual trying to bring about personal change or a company trying to maximize your yield.
Principle 1: Raise Your Standard of Thinking
Don’t become so well-adjusted to the culture (around you) that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God (and His Word). You’ll be changed from the inside out.
Readily recognize what He wants from you and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you. (Romans 12:2 MSG Translation)
The first thing we need to do to bring lasting changes in our lives is to change our focus. Always remember, you will move in the direction of your focus.
The scripture that we just read gives us the blueprint that we need to bring about lasting changes.
1.Don’t become so well-adjusted to the culture (around you) that you fit into it without even thinking.
Many times we fit in because that is the easiest thing to do. I have known people who never smoked, but when they joined a workplace where people smoked, they too started smoking.
Don’t let the culture and the people around you reshape your godly values. Or else you will be like the dead fish that floats downstream with the others.
