We continue in our series: Lessons from the Life of Judas.
Scripture does not hide anything. The Bible makes it clear that “For whatever things were written before were written for our learning” (Romans 15:4)
There is much to learn from the life of Judas - one of the closest Apostles of Lord Jesus who, in the end, betrayed Him.
Another reason why Judas fell was:
2. Unconfessed Sin
Unconfessed sin always opens the door to the enemy of our souls - satan
When the woman with the alabaster flask poured the oil on the head of Jesus, Judas was offended and made a statement that such waste could have been avoided and the money given to the poor.
Now he (Judas) did not say this because he cared for the poor but because he was a thief; and having the bag (the money box, the purse of the Twelve), he took for himself what was put into it [pilfering the collections]. John 12:6
As I mentioned earlier, scripture never hides the weaknesses of man but rather exposes them so that man can repent and turn to His ways. Clearly, Judas had a ‘love-of-money’ issue. (1 Timothy 6:10), out of which, the devil built a stronghold in his life.
Judas had seen Jesus speaking to the Samaritan woman who was living in adultery and had seen her life change. He had also seen how compassionately Jesus always dealt with the worst sinners. He could have easily spoken to Jesus about his weakness, and surely the Lord would have helped him overcome it. But Judas always concealed the matter and always pretended to be someone he was not.
The Bible makes it plain. “Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy” (Proverbs 28:13)
Judas’ unconfessed sin opened the door to satan .
Then satan entered into Judas Iscariot. (Luke 22:3–4)
The devil had already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him. (John 13:2)
It was Judas that opened the door to satan and ended up betraying the Lord.
1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive our sin and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Today, why not tell Jesus your weaknesses. He will surely provide grace for you to overcome.

Prayer
1. Father, I confess my weakness to You. (spend some quality time doing this)
2. Father, grant me Your wisdom and grace to prepare today for what is to come tomorrow. Just as you helped Joseph store away for a famine in times of plenty; just as the ant prepares and stores away for the winter, grant me that foresight. I refuse to live for the thrills of today at the expense of a future. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
