Now Solomon made a treaty with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and married Pharaoh’s daughter; then he brought her to the City of David until he had finished building his own house, and the house of the Lord, and the wall all around Jerusalem. (1 Kings 3:1)
It perhaps made political sense, but not spiritual sense. This was a big blunder on Solomon’s part
Now the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there, for that was the great high place: Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar. At Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said, “Ask! What shall I give you?” (1 Kings 3:4-5)
Solomon offered to God an offering that provoked God to appear before him. Notice, the foundation for the offering was ‘love’. (1 King 3:3). This offering not only demonstrated Solomon’s great wealth but also his heart to use it to glorify God
Then Solomon awoke; and indeed it had been a dream. (1 King 3:15)
However, what transpired in Solomon’s dream impacted his real life. (as was evident the next day)
