Of the sons of Issachar who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do, their chiefs were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their command; (1 Chronicles 12:32)
The sons of Issachar understood chronological time, but they also understood spiritual and political time.
The good news is that the anointing of the sons of Issachar is available to both you and me! We may develop the same capacity for discerning the changing of the times and seasons!
Some Gadites joined David at the stronghold in the wilderness, mighty men of valour, men trained for battle, who could handle shield and spear, whose faces were like the faces of lions, and were as swift as gazelles on the mountains: (1 Chronicles 12:8)
This passage describes their appearance, saying that their faces were "like the faces of lions." Rather, their features resembled the faces of lions in some way or another. The utilisation of the term "like" is of utmost significance. They were only aggressive and powerful representations of the human race and not mutants of any kind.
Another verse draws a parallel between the Gadites and lions. When Moses blessed the several tribes, he blessed Gad with the following words: "Blessed be he that enlargeth Gad: he dwells as a lion, and teareth the arm with the crown of the head." (Gad dwells like a lion, and tears the arm with the crown of the head) (Deuteronomy 33:20). The people of Gad were compared to as lions in the Bible.

- The sons of Issachar could discern what God was doing and when He was doing it.
- They knew when one move of God was ending, and another one was beginning.
- They could discern when a leader was falling, and another leader was rising.
- They could even tell you who the next leader should be. They knew who to follow and when to follow him or her.
