
“Run to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem;
See now and know;
And seek in her open places
If you can find a man,
If there is anyone who executes judgment,
Who seeks the truth,
And I will pardon her.
Though they say, ‘As the Lord lives,’
Surely they swear falsely.” (Jeremiah 5:1-2)
Jeremiah could find many religious men in the city. They had the right religious cliches ‘as the Lord lives’ etc yet he could not find anyone who walked in sincerity.
When I had fed them to the full,
Then they committed adultery (Jeremiah 5:7)
Prosperity is the ultimate test not poverty….
They have lied about the LORD, and said, “It is not He” (Jeremiah 5:12)
When the false prophets assured the people of Judah and Jerusalem that their present problems were not warnings and corrections from the Lord, they lied about the LORD. When they promised, “Neither will evil come upon us,” they lied about the LORD.
