Chapter 38

One of the great wars mentioned in the Bible in chapters Ezekiel 38 & 39; often referred to as the war of Gog and Magog. It is sometimes called Word War 3 (WW-3). It's the only war that Christians, Muslims and Jews - all have a teaching on.

A detailed prophecy about a future war campaign against Israel in the book of Ezekiel. This war is known as the "Gog and Magog War" because the people of Magog and their leader Gog will lead the attack against Israel. 

This particular war will be a turning point for Israel, with regard to their relationship with God.

Ezekiel wrote down the ancient names of the nations as he knew them. To make sense of these names, we need to do some investigative work using Scripture and history. Many prophecy teachers have done the detective work for us already. 

The Hebrew word 'rosh' in verse 3 is identified with Russia, 'Tubal' with Tiblisi or Tobolsk and 'Meshech' with Moscow, therefore Gog and Magog refers to Russia.

Persia, Libya, Ethiopia

Sheba, Dedan, the merchants of Tarshish, and all their young lions will say to you, ‘Have you come to take plunder? Have you gathered your army to take booty, to carry away silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods, to take great plunder?’”’ (Ezekiel 38:13)

the merchants of Tarshish is the area of Britain and Spain

and all their young lions - Britain's emblem as you know is a lion, America came out of Great Britain

What this could mean is that the gulf states of Arabia do not get involved in this conflict

The extreme western part of Europe would not get involved in this conflict

it's important to understand that the war described in Ezekiel  is not the same as the war that will come at the end of the tribulation when Jesus returns to defeat the Antichrist and establish his millennial kingdom. How do we know this? The war at the end of the tribulation, known as Armageddon, is a world war. Revelation tells us that this battle will involve all nations. The war described in Ezekiel includes specific nations that invade Israel. Also, Armageddon is at the climax of the tribulation, while the war described in Ezekiel comes well before then.

Sheba and Dedan are not hard to identify.  These were ancient names for what is known today as Saudi Arabia.

Interestingly, Saudi Arabia is the only Arab nation to consistently side with the West against radical Islamic elements around the world. America will not be a part of the Gog and Magog war.
