“For he who speaks in a Tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries”. (1 Corinthians 14:2)
This scripture clearly tells us that when a person speaks in tongue, he or she is speaking directly to God. If Jeremiah 33:3 is God’s landline number then, 1 Corinthians 14:2 has to be God’s personal cell phone no.
In our beautiful nation of India, everyone wants to meet their local MLA’s and MP’s to solve their problems (absolutely nothing wrong with that). However, Apostle Paul writes that when we speak in Tongues, we are directly speaking to God Himself – the same God who created the heavens and the earth. We have the awesome privilege of talking directly to God in the Throne Room of Heaven.
Notice, we don't need any in-between intercession of anyone in heaven. Now because we have accepted what Jesus did for us on the Cross of Calvary, we now have direct access to the Father because in Jesus the veil that was separating us from the Holies of Holies has been torn apart.
The Bible clearly states that the one who speaks in Tongues does not speak to men but to God (1 Corinthians 14:2). Therefore, it is very clear that it is a prayer language.

Confession
I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress against the LORD and His people. As I speak in tongues, I speak forth the righteousness of God all the day long. (Psalm 17:3; Psalm 35:28)
