Have you ever done something wrong and then done everything in your power to hide it?
Adam and Eve did it. Eve yielded to the deception of the serpent and ate of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Genesis 3:6 states that she gave some to her husband Adam, who was with her, and he also ate.
Then the man (Adam) and his wife heard the Lord God walking about in the garden. So they hid from the Lord God among the trees. (Genesis 3:8 NLT)
There is no way to hide from the presence of the Lord God, yet they tried. “And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.” (Hebrews 4:13)
David too desperately tried to hide his sin of adultery and murder. (Read 2 Samuel 11)
Man knows that “He who planted the ear, shall He not hear? He who formed the eye, shall He not see?” (Psalm 94:9) Even then man still tries to hide.
The word “sin” originates from Greek and Hebrew words that describe the act of “missing the mark.” In reality, each one of us have missed the mark on something or the other.
We do not have to hide our sin or justify it because Jesus has paid the penalty for us, bringing us undeserved forgiveness. Just tell Him everything and the peace of God will flood you. Your fellowship with the Lord will be restored. Remember, if we walk in the light as He is in the light, the blood of Jesus Christ is available for our cleansing.
So also, if we have wronged someone, we need to go to them and ask for forgiveness. (I understand it may not be possible in some cases). This is our love walk, and it’s how we keep our fellowship flowing and peaceful.
As strong cement between the bricks determines the strength of a building, so also strong fellowship between Christians determines the strength of each local church. Don’t postpone this.
Prayer
Father, give me the grace to act justly, to love mercy and walk humbly before You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
