And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:13)
Faith, hope, and love, also known as God's kind of love, are divine qualities that are deeply cherished. On the other hand, satan lacks all these qualities and extremely hates those who possess them. God is the embodiment of faith, hope, and love, as they reflect His essence.
Individuals who genuinely possess these attributes are considered "God-filled," as they can only be received from and through the Lord. Therefore, embracing these attributes can help one experience a deeper connection with God and live a life full of purpose and meaning.
Despite the prevalence of faithlessness, hopelessness, and lack of love in today's society, these qualities have existed since the creation of mankind and will continue to exist as long as God continues to dwell within the hearts of believers. These attributes are not subject to society's fluctuating values but remain steadfast and unchanging.
Although people influenced by the devil and his minions have attempted to eradicate these virtues, their efforts have always been in vain. Love, in particular, never fails (1 Corinthians 13:8), while faith can conquer the world (1 John 5:4), hope is what saves us (Romans 8:24). As Christians, we are called to embody these qualities, both for our own benefit and to serve as a positive influence in the world around us.
Faith, hope, and love are what make life worth living and give it purpose and fulfilment. These qualities are what make us human and set us apart from the rest of creation. Without them, people are prone to act like mere animals, driven by their base instincts and desires. But when these virtues are present in our lives, even the most hardened heart can be softened and transformed into the image of God. To live without faith, hope, and love is to settle for a low quality of life devoid of meaning and true joy.
I recently visited Kolkata. Even today, people there speak so highly of Mother Theresa. Despite facing countless obstacles and challenges, Mother Teresa never lost hope in the transformative power of faith and love. Her work with the Missionaries of Charity touched countless lives, providing essential care and support to the poor and those forgotten by society. One day, someone asked her what made her continue in faith, love and hope. She replied, "I see the face of Christ in each person I serve."
Prayer
Heavenly Father, I come before you today, asking you to fill me with your divine qualities of faith, hope, and love. Let them flow through me so that I may be a beacon of light to those who are faithless, hopeless, and in need of your love. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen!
