Stress
Physical problems, mental issues, health problems, broken relationships and the daily rat race that modern society calls life. Stress is the no.1 killer in today's modern society - but it's not unbeatable. In fact, God, in His wisdom, has given us clear guidance on how to overcome it in His life-giving Word.
"Are you tired and worn out? Burned out? Come to me. Get away with me, and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me, and you'll learn to live freely and lightly." (Matthew 11:28-30 MSG)
Get Into His Presence
If you are regularly feeling tired and worn out, then it is probably high time that you take time out and spend time in His Presence. The Lord has promised His rest and comfort to those who do so. Play some soft worship music, switch off that phone and just enjoy His peace and refreshing presence. Slowly read a portion of scripture and allow it to speak to you. This will do wonders for the soul and body.
Be Focussed
Don't try to do everything that people around you are doing. In other words, you cannot be involved in everything; you can't put your fingers in everything. You need to focus your time and energy only on the things that you are really good at. Remember, mere activity is not fruitfulness. So you may need to separate yourself from certain unfruitful things. It may be painful at the beginning, but this could save your life. One of the keys is to spend time with God and ask Him to give you the wisdom to order your day.
Rest
Return to your rest, O my soul, for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you (Psalm 116:7).
Resting is not just a good idea, but it is a God idea - it is a command of God:
"Six days you shall do your work, but the seventh day you shall rest and keep Sabbath, that your ox and your donkey may rest, and the son of your bondwoman, and the alien, may be refreshed" (Exodus 23:12).
The Lord added that "even in ploughing time and in harvest you shall rest [on the Sabbath]" (Exodus 34:21)
A good night's rest will also do wonders to eliminate stress from your life. Start your week by getting the necessary rest, and you will have a super productive week – physically and spiritually.
