And Abraham journeyed from there to the South, and dwelt between Kadesh and Shur, and stayed in Gerar. Now Abraham said of Sarah his wife, “She is my sister.” And Abimelech king of Gerar sent and took Sarah. (Genesis 20:1-2)
I believe the spirit of fear came against Abraham. This is what caused him to lie and manipulate. If the spirit of fear could come against a man of God like Abraham then it can come against you and me also. We need to wise and take immediate action against it.
But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, “Indeed you are a dead man because of the woman whom you have taken, for she is a man’s wife.” (Genesis 20:3)
God can speak through dreams also. Imagine if Abimelech were to ignore the dream - He would have lost his life. Don’t ignore your dreams.

Then God said to him in the dream, Yes, I know you did this in the integrity of your heart, for it was I Who kept you back and spared you from sinning against Me; therefore I did not give you occasion to touch her. (Genesis 20:6)
God is able to keep you from sinning.
Now therefore, restore the man’s wife; for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you shall live. But if you do not restore her, know that you shall surely die, you and all who are yours.” (Genesis 20:7)
Today’s Christianity thrives on feel good factor. The Bible speaks of restoration and restitution - both are connected. If you have something in your possession that does not rightfully belong to you then you are duty bound to return it to the owner. Our Christianity should be seen beyond the walls of the Church.
Then Abimelech took sheep, oxen, and male and female servants, and gave them to Abraham; and he restored Sarah his wife to him. (Genesis 20:14)
Abimelech not only restored Sarah back to Abraham but also added something of value to the restitution process - in this case sheep, oxen etc.
So Abraham prayed to God; and God healed Abimelech, his wife, and his female servants. Then they bore children; for the Lord had closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech because of Sarah, Abraham’s wife. (Genesis 20:17-18)
Abimelech restored what did not belong to him and then the wombs of the house of Abimelech were healed. Could it be that some healing has stopped from happening because of the lack of restoration. On one side we are making prayers asking for forgiveness and still holding on to the goods of others.
