Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. (Romans 12:1)
Living Sacrifice
In Old Testament, many sacrifices were offered. Once the sacrifice was offered to God, the bird or the animal was dead and it could no longer further glorify God. it was a dead sacrifice.
But In New Testament, we are called to be living sacrifices. As a living sacrifice, we bring glory to God daily, moment by moment.
Apostle Paul wrote, “I affirm, by the boasting in you which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.” (1 Corinthians 15:31)
Apostle Paul did not physically die daily. This means he conquered his flesh daily. He would daily win the struggle that exists between the flesh and the Spirit. This is what it means to be a living sacrifice.
For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function (Romans 12:4)
No part of the body can be replaced by another part. Each part has its unique significance. The key is to find out your function, your significance and develop it.
