Chapter 10

Book / 8 / 134 chapter - 10
2730
When you have departed from me today, you will find two men by Rachel’s tomb in the territory of Benjamin at Zelzah; (1 Samuel 10:2)

Today Rachel’s tomb stands on the Jerusalem-Hebron road north of Bethlehem.

This was the territory of Benjamin

After that you shall come to the hill of God where the Philistine garrison is. And it will happen, when you have come there to the city, that you will meet a group of prophets coming down from the high place with a stringed instrument, a tambourine, a flute, and a harp before them; and they will be prophesying. (1 Samuel 10:5)

Music and the prophetic are deeply connected
Worship and the prophetic are deeply intertwined

Proverbs 13:20, instructs us to “walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble.”

Prophet Samuel prophesied to Saul saying, “Then the Spirit of the Lord will come upon you, and you will prophesy with them and be turned into another man. (1 Samuel 10:6)

When they came there to the hill, there was a group of prophets to meet him; then the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied among them. 11 And it happened, when all who knew him formerly saw that he indeed prophesied among the prophets, that the people said to one another, “What is this that has come upon the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?”  (1 Samuel 10:10-11)

Saul was just an ordinary Benjamite but when he came into contact with the group of prophet something marvellous happened. The prophetic anointing came upon Saul and he too began to prophesy like the other prophets. There is a key principle here. It is by association that the anointing is also transferred one to another.

So Saul said to his uncle, “He told us plainly that the donkeys had been found.” But about the matter of the kingdom, he did not tell him what Samuel had said. (1 Samuel 10:16)

Saul was wise enough not to tell what Prophet Samuel had told him

Unlike Joseph who told his brothers about the dreams that the Lord had shown him. This landed him in great trouble. Do not tell everyone your dreams. Not everyone is your friend.

And Saul also went home to Gibeah; and valiant men went with him, whose hearts God had touched. (1 Samuel 10:26)

It's when the Lord touches the hearts of people that they will extend a hand to you
