Then the Philistines gathered together all their armies at Aphek, and the Israelites encamped by a fountain which is in Jezreel. 2 And the lords of the Philistines passed in review by hundreds and by thousands, but David and his men passed in review at the rear with Achish. 3 Then the princes of the Philistines said, “What are these Hebrews doing here?” (1 Samuel 29:1-3)
The fact that David aligned in battle against Israel opened himself to the curse of Genesis 12. We see him being attacked by the Amalekites, where he almost lost all he had.
Now when David and his men came home to Ziklag on the third day, they found that the Amalekites had made a raid on the South (the Negeb) and on Ziklag and had struck Ziklag and burned it with fire. (1 Samuel 30:1)
