‘In those days, Israel had no king; everyone did as they saw fit.’ (Judges 21:25).
This is the kind of time that Deborah lived in. Does it not sound so much like the times you and I live in?
Judges 4 and 5 also tells us that Deborah was the very first female judge in Israel’s history. In a time when women were treated as insignificant, she rose to the highest level of leadership in her day. Deborah’s attitude and actions deserve careful attention, and as such, there are powerful lessons to be learned from her life.
#1:Deborah was wise
Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, was judging Israel at that time. And she would sit under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the mountains of Ephraim. And the children of Israel came up to her for judgment. (Judges 4:4-5)
The Bible calls her a prophetess. A prophet is simply a mouthpiece of God. This happens when a person spends quality time in God’s presence. Clearly, her wisdom came from her intimacy with God. Here intimacy with God provided her with the wisdom to bring credible solutions to the people of Israel.
Someone once said, “You are either part of the problem or part of the solution” Clearly, Deborah was part of the solution in people’s lives. You too can be part of the solution in your family, in your church, in your workplace etc. Try spending quality time, and you will see this happening.
#2: Deborah was available
The Bible says, “Deborah sat under the Palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the mountains of Ephraim.”
One day a young girl asked me, “Pastor Michael, what is the secret to being used mightily by God?” I told her in plain terms; “it’s not ability but availability”
You may not be the most talented person around, but if you can offer to God what you have, He will use you. There are many talented people in God’s kingdom, but unfortunately, they are never around. They only show up in church when there is a famous prophet or a preacher in town.
Don’t be like them. Attend the services even when the famous preacher or prophet is not around. Attend the services even when the lights and the smoke is missing and offer your talents. God will mould you into what He has planned for you.
One more thing, when the Lord finds that you are humble enough to serve Him when He tells you to do even the little things, He can trust you then to do the bigger and more important jobs! (Read Luke 16:10)

Personal Spiritual Growth
Father, in the name of Jesus, draw me more closer to You.
Father, I thank You that You have given me abilities. Now, give me a willing heart so that I am always willing to take my abilities and make them available to you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Family Salvation
Father God, Your Word says that “godly sorrow brings repentance which leads to salvation and leaves no regret” (2 Corinthians 7:10). Only You can open our eyes to the reality that all have sinned and fallen short of Your glory. Cause Your Spirit to move upon my family members with a sense of godly sorrow that they may repent, surrender to You, and be saved. In Jesus’ name.
Financial Breakthrough
Father, deliver me from profitless labour and confused activities in Jesus' name.
KSM Church Growth
Father, in the name of Jesus, I pray that the LIVE broadcasts would reach thousands of families across the nations. Draw them to know you as Lord and Saviour. Cause each person connecting, to grow in word, worship and prayer.
