You love righteousness and hate wickedness;
Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You
With the oil of gladness more than Your companions. (Psalm 45:7)
Loving righteousness and hating wickedness speaks of character which runs more than skin deep; which goes beyond just the service. It's who you really are even in the dark (off the stage and the lights)
You can do something for the sake of doing it out of a sense of duty and still not love it. But when you love something that you do there is always something extra that comes out and that is why God also backs it up with His anointing.
This is also a strange statement – this King is God, and yet receives from God. Passages like this are the foundation for the idea of the Trinity – that there is One God who exists in Three Persons.
“God, Your God” speaks of the Father and His position of authority over the Second Person of the Trinity. “You” refers to the Son. “Anointed” has in mind the ministry and presence of the Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Trinity.
