In verses 2-6 the purpose of the book is mentioned
2 That people may know skillful and godly Wisdom and instruction, discern and comprehend the words of understanding and insight,
3 Receive instruction in wise dealing and the discipline of wise thoughtfulness, righteousness, justice, and integrity,
4 That prudence may be given to the simple, and knowledge, discretion, and discernment to the youth
5 The wise also will hear and increase in learning, and the person of understanding will acquire skill and attain to sound counsel [so that he may be able to steer his course rightly]—
6 That people may understand a proverb and a figure of speech or an enigma with its interpretation, and the words of the wise and their dark sayings or riddles.
How do you know a fool?
but fools despise skillful and godly Wisdom, instruction, and discipline. v.7
Each time you are ignoring
- skillful wisdom
- godly Wisdom
- Instruction
- and discipline
You are operating in foolishness and immaturity
If you will turn (repent) and give heed to my reproof, behold, I Wisdom] will pour out my spirit upon you, I will make my words known to you. (Proverbs 1:23)
Repentance is the key to receiving the Holy Spirit
Giving heed ...having a listening hear is the key to receive revelation from the word of God.
Peer Pressure compels you to do something wrong, simply say ‘No’ (Proverbs 1:10)
The power of No!
Handling Peer pressure
my son, refuse to go with them and stay far away from them. (Proverbs 1:15)
Don’t only say No, stay away from them
Each one of us has to eat the fruit of our ways. This fruit could be bitter or sweet depending on you.
"Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me. (Proverbs 1:28)
The ones who disdain the counsel of God (Proverbs 1:25), their...
- Prayer will be unanswered
- Their seeking the Lord will also be fruitless
Because they hated knowledge And did not choose the fear of the LORD, They would have none of my counsel And despised my every rebuke. (Proverbs 1:29-30)
God's counsel is not available to those who hate or reject the knowledge of God's ways.
But the one who always listens to me
will live undisturbed in heavenly peace.
Free from fear, confident and courageous,
you will rest unafraid and sheltered from the storms of life. (Proverbs 1:33 TPT)
The One who Always listens to me….
