Now when they drew near Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples (Matthew 20:1)
Bethphage (Aramaic בית פגי, lit. "House of un-ripe figs")
saying to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Loose them and bring them to Me. And if anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord has need of them,’ and immediately he will send them.” (Matthew 21:2-3)
The Deliverance Ministry
then Jesus sent two disciples (v.1)
The deliverance team
Direction is so important in the deliverance ministry
saying to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. (Matthew 21:2)
Loose them and bring them to Me - Deliverance
The donkey and the colt were tied. Lord Jesus delegated His disciples to “Loose them and bring them to Me.”
In the same manner, we have received the mandate to loose the people who are bound and bring them to Jesus.
The Word in Deliverance
If anyone says anything to you, you shall reply, The Lord needs them, and he will let them go without delay. (Matthew 21:3)
If anyone says anything - this could mean human voices and spirit voices as well. Speaking the word of God in the deliverance process is very important.
The Purpose of Deliverance
They brought the donkey and the colt, laid their clothes on them, and set Him on them.
To serve the LORD (Matthew 21:7)
So the disciples went and did as Jesus commanded them. (Matthew 21:6)
When you do what the Lord says, you are fulfilling prophecy
All this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying:
“Tell the daughter of Zion,
‘Behold, your King is coming to you,
Lowly, and sitting on a donkey,
A colt, the foal of a donkey.’ ” (Matthew 21:4-5)
There was a prophetic word. Jesus always spoke in line with what was prophesied. Jesus knew about the prophecy but the disciples did not know there was a prophecy concerning this but as they obeyed what the Lord was saying, they were invariably fulfilling prophecy.
Their actions were prophetic in nature because they were obeying the voice of the Lord. This is how you become a prophetic person, a prophetic church, a prophetic team.
What if the disciples thought, “why get a donkey? Let’s get a horse. They probably would have impressed the people but they would certainly not be prophetic.
And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer (Matthew 21:13)
Our Father, God, has a spiritual residence. His dwelling place is the house of prayer.
There are "thieves" who would rob us of this experience (Matthew 21:13). In the temple at Jerusalem, the people were being robbed of the true experience of the Father's house by the materialistic money changers, the frenzied activities of business, and the superfluous rituals of religion imposed by the priests and scribes. Jesus called this environment a "den of thieves."
A house of prayer will become an arena for the demonstration of God’s power.
Our churches should not become mere social or recreational centres but instead be arenas for the demonstration of God's power.
It is our Father's divine purpose to take up residence in each person's spiritual "temple" so that each person becomes a "house of prayer."
And seeing a fig tree by the road, He came to it and found nothing on it but leaves, and said to it, “Let no fruit grow on you ever again.” Immediately the fig tree withered away. (Matthew 21:19)
Our words have the same power. We can build ourselves and others up or we can tear ourselves and others down. Proverbs 12:18,"The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing."
They said to Him, He will put those wretches to a miserable death and rent the vineyard to other tenants of such a character that they will give him the fruits promptly in their season. (Matthew 21:41)
A person of character produces fruit. Character and fruit are inseparable
