For I neither received it (the gospel) from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ.” (Galatians 1:12)
The Greek word Paul used here was apokalupsis; to unveil, reveal, uncover.
There are three primary ways a man learns
1. received it from man
2. taught it
3. Through the revelation of Jesus Christ. (fastest way to learn)
There are some things that you can receive from the hands of man and there are things that you can learn – which is good. However, there are certain things that you can only receive through revelation. This revelation knowledge comes only to those who stand before the Lord daily dwelling in His presence.
(Lord Jesus Christ) who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present
evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, (Galatians 1:4 NKJV)
Healing and deliverance is for ‘today’. There are benefits of salvation that Christ purchased for us.
Notice that Apostle Paul did not say Jesus gave Himself for our sins to deliver us from the evil world to come. He said "this present evil world." That means that our salvation is effective in this life too, not just in the one to come.
Some of us have pushed back all the benefits of salvation to "when we all get to heaven." But that's not so. Through the atonement of Jesus, we have been delivered from sickness (see Matthew 8:17), we have been delivered from poverty (see 2 Corinthians 8:9), and we have been delivered from demonic control (Luke 10:19), as well as sin, in this present life.
To the degree, we believe that, we will begin to experience the physical benefits of our salvation in the now.
Many have a question. Is it the will of God to deliver me from this trouble that I am going through?
It is the will of God that we are delivered from this present evil world, or the evil that is in the world.
We have heard many times about how God led the children of Israel in the wilderness; and we get the idea that the "wilderness experience" was to perfect them or make them stronger.
But it did not make them stronger. It did not perfect their faith. It was not the will of God that they go through the wilderness all those years. God’s will for them was to get them out as fast as possible.
How do I know that?
The distance from Egypt to the Promised Land was only a few days but it was their disobedience made their journey last nearly 40 years.
There are some who want to pervert the gospel of Christ (Galatians 1:7)
The Bible clearly tells us that there are some who pervert the Gospel. It just does not matter how many religions the world has, or how many religious leaders they have, or how many people attack the gospel to cast doubts on God’s Word. They are not a problem to the Church.
The problem is that many Christians themselves come up with doctrines that are clearly not from the Bible. That is why Paul talked about some wanting to bring in another gospel, which was really not another gospel, but a perversion of the gospel of Christ.
But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. (Galatians 1:8)
Throughout history, there are people who have claimed to receive revelation from angels. There is nothing wrong with receiving revelation from angels as long as it is in line with scripture.
Daniel (I have come to give you understanding) (Daniel 9:22)
Apostle John on Patmos (Revelation 1)
In his book Morris Cerullo writes:
In late 1978, one of the most bizarre events in recent history flashed across the headlines of the world. More than 1000 followers of a preacher named Jim Jones had followed him from the United States to a colony in Guyana.
There, on November 18, a total of 911 men, women and children followed the leader they had chosen in mass suicide and murder that rocked the world. Though accusing fingers were pointed immediately at Christian ministries and Christian leaders throughout the world, it was soon obvious that this man was not a Christian, and that he had only used the bible to preach ‘another gospel’.
But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. (Galatians 1:8-9)
Preaching the Gospel is not a joke. If you preach a wrong Gospel then there are consequences you must face. There is a curse on those who preach a false Gospel.
