Chapter 30

Book / 4 / 258 chapter - 30
1964
And the Lord your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, to love the Lord your God with all your [mind and] heart and with all your being, that you may live. (Deuteronomy 30:6)

This is an idea repeated in the promises of the New Covenant, in passages like

Ezekiel 36:26-27: I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.

The Apostle Paul wrote that all Israel will be saved (Romans 11:26).

Lord Jesus said that He would not return until Israel embraced Him as Messiah: For I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!” (Matthew 23:39)

But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it. (Deuteronomy 30:14)
But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”(that is, the word of faith which we preach): (Romans 10:8)

How do you put the word in your heart?
This verse clearly shows us the connection between the mouth, the heart and the mind.
When you take the word and say it, and keep on saying it, the word then enters your spirit man. This is how you hide the word in your heart.

Importance of hiding the word in your heart
Psalm 119:11 states, "I have hidden your word in my heart ..." The word "hidden" means to treasure.
The second part of the verse says, "... that I might not sin against you." Obedience to God will be a natural outcome in a heart that treasures His Word.

“Now listen! Today I am giving you a choice between life and death, between prosperity and disaster. (Deuteronomy 30:15 NLT)
The choice is ours

I declare to you today that you shall surely perish, and you shall not live long in the land which you pass over the Jordan to enter and possess. (Deuteronomy 30:18)
It’s not enough to just enter, you must be established
It’s not enough to start a business, it must flourish

When all Israel comes to appear before the Lord your God in the place which He chooses [for His sanctuary], you shall read this law before all Israel in their hearing. (Deuteronomy 31:11)
They had to hear the word. This was all a process so that they would be established in the land that God had called them into.

Assemble the people—men, women, and children, and the stranger and the sojourner within your towns—that they may hear and learn [reverently] to fear the Lord your God and be watchful to do all the words of this law (Deuteronomy 31:12)
The men, women and even the children had to hear the word
It did not stop there. Even the stranger and the sojourner had to hear the word of God.
That’s how important the word of God is.
