For you are a holy people to the Lord your God, and the Lord has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples who are on the face of the earth. (Deuteronomy 14:2)
The idea behind holy is “separate.” or ‘uncommon’
In Christ, we “are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9)
Deuteronomy 14:3-21 speaks of dietary laws.
Eliminating these from the diet of Israel no doubt had a healthy effect, and one of the reasons for the dietary laws of Israel was to keep Israel (God’s people) healthy!
You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk (Deuteronomy 14:21)
Some of the Orthodox Jews even today will not take milk of milk products with meat
The Purpose of Tithing
The purpose of tithing is to teach you always to put God first in your lives. (Deuteronomy 14:23(b) TLB)
That the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do (Deuteronomy 14:29)
The Lord will bless a giving heart. Ask anyone who has been a giver. His testimony has always been – I am blessed
