For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me (Exodus 20:6)
Blessings and curses can move from one generation to the other. What many people are aware of is the transference of blessings but I need you to understand that the same way blessings flow from one generation to the other is the same way curses and negative patterns flow. If the negative pattern is not consciously terminated, the flow will continue.
There are physical and also spiritual DNAs. The physical DNA is the one inherited from your biological parents, while the spiritual DNA is transmitted spiritually and unconsciously by them. Please note, you are not only getting a physical transfer in terms of physical DNA from your parents, but you are also getting spiritual DNA from them. What happened during the time of your parent can happen again during your own time, it’s because of the spiritual DNA that you carry.
The pattern of bareness was first found in Abraham and through the force of covenant with God, the womb of Sarah was opened, and she gave birth to Isaac. Isaac inherited the covenant and blessing from Abraham but also inherited a negative pattern from them.
Isaac and Rebekah experienced 20 years of bareness before the power of prayer broke the generational pattern.
Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah as wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padan Aram, the sister of Laban the Syrian.
Now Isaac pleaded with the Lord for his wife, because she was barren; and the Lord granted his plea, and Rebekah his wife conceived.
Afterwards his brother came out, and his hand took hold of Esau’s heel, so his name was called Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when she bore them. (Genesis 25:20-21,26 Emphasis added)
During the time of Jacob, the spirit of bareness also showed up. This spirit flowed between three generations. Even though they had the blessing, the covenant of God, yet they did not destroy or notice the spirit of bareness at work in their family lineage. The grandson (Jacob), experienced what his father (Isaac), and grandfather Abraham experienced.
“…but Rachel was barren.” (Genesis 29:31)
A pastor friend of mine in Africa said that his great-grandmother gave birth to only one child, his grandmother also gave birth to one child (which was his mother), but according to what his mother told him, the grandma always prayed for her daughter that she would give birth to many. Although the grandmother was not a fervent Christian, yet she noticed the trend and quickly spoke against it in order to address it in the heavenlies. The grandma could only give birth to one, but the daughter gave birth to seven children. My pastor friend is the last born of the family. If this negative trend was not broken, it would have continued.
The Force of Obedience To The Covenant
Therefore you shall keep the commandment, the statutes, and the judgments which I command you today, to observe them.
“Then it shall come to pass, because you listen to these judgments, and keep and do them, that the Lord your God will keep with you the covenant and the mercy which He swore to your fathers.
And He will love you and bless you and multiply you; He will also bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your land, your grain and your new wine and your oil, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flock, in the land of which He swore to your fathers to give you.
You shall be blessed above all peoples; there shall not be a male or female barren among you or among your livestock.
And the Lord will take away from you all sickness, and will afflict you with none of the terrible diseases of Egypt which you have known, but will lay them on all those who hate you. (Deuteronomy 7:11-15)
There is a covenant responsibility on you that you must fulfil so that God can step in to destroy the works of the devil over your fruitfulness. You cannot be living outside the covenant and be expecting God to give you covenant blessings. Fruitfulness is part of the covenant blessings, but it is conditional. Your obedience determines if He will fulfil His side of the covenant.
Let me remind you, as long as you are a child of God, you are in a “covenant” with God. The two major covenants that I want to call your attention to are:
1.The Abrahamic Covenant
And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you. (Genesis 17:7)
God established a covenant with Abraham, and it is an everlasting covenant. Christ came to establish the covenant and the blessings. Through Christ, we qualify for the Abrahamic covenant and blessings. (See Galatians 3:13-14)
“If you belong to Christ, then you are the descendants of Abraham and will receive what God has promised.” Galatians 3:29 (GNT)
2.The New Covenant in Christ
“For this reason, Christ is the one who arranges a new covenant, so that those who have been called by God may receive the eternal blessings that God has promised. This can be done because there has been a death which sets people free from the wrongs they did while the first covenant was in effect.” (Hebrews 9:15 GNT)
Here is the covenant responsibility of God, “the Lord your God will keep with you the covenant and the mercy which He swore to your fathers.“ (Deuteronomy 7:12) but for God to keep His part of the covenant, it is dependent on you. God’s part is conditional; it is in response to your obedience, “…, if you listen to these judgments, and keep, and do them …” The word “if” clearly reveals that you have a covenant responsibility and it is conditional, you cannot enjoy the blessings without obedience.
Being in Christ qualifies you for the blessing but your obedience to the terms of the covenant is what “triggers” the blessing.
Once you meet the covenant requirement, God is responsible to perform His word, “And He will love you, and bless you, and multiply you… there shall not be male or female barren among you..”, or among your cattle.”
The covenant of fruitfulness also covers your cattle and all that you have, Hallelujah!
If you are living in obedience to the word of God, you can demand your covenant blessings in the place of prayer. Your fruitfulness is a covenant right, Christ has purchased it for you, and none is permitted to be barren in the kingdom except for the ignorant or disobedient ones.
You have a glorious destiny in Christ. As of today, never see yourself as a barren woman again, it is contrary to kingdom life. No one is barren in the kingdom of God, your husband too is not infertile. You are fruitful, and you will give birth to a precious child in Jesus name.
