My enemies and foes,

They stumbled and fell. (Psalm 27:2)

This was literally true in the case of our Lord in Gethsemane, when those who came to arrest Him went stumbled and fell backward to the ground;

When my father and my mother forsake me,

Then the Lord will take care of me. (Psalm 27:10)

David was not expecting that his parents would forsake him. David knew that the love and care of God could go beyond even the closest human bonds.
