Chapter 33

By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,

And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth. (Psalm 33:6)

Angels are spirit beings (Job 4:15, Psalm 104:4, Hebrews 1:7). They are spirits without a body and were created by the very breath of God. The Hebrew word host refers to the heavenly host of angels. The same word is found in Genesis 2:1.

This verse also demonstrates the immensity of God’s creative power, His brilliance, and might. But, it does not demonstrate a great deal of effort on His part. On the other hand, our redemption cost Him everything - His very own Son.

For He spoke, and it was done;

He commanded, and it stood fast. (Psalm 33:9)

Just imagine, you say and it is done. You command and then it happens as you say. You then have a mouth like the mouth of God. How much then one must be careful of what one says.

The counsel of the Lord stands forever,

The plans of His heart to all generations. (Psalm 33:11)

Everything else will fall by the wayside, but if it's God's counsel, it will stand.
